Introducing martinMARTIN
Diane Moss-Martin and Eric Martin launched martinMartin in 2000.
A graduate of Los Angeles Trade Technical College, Diane Moss-Martin began her career as a costume designer and stylist for film, television, music videos and album covers.
She started her own label Diane Moss / Moss Studio before martinMartin.
Eric Martin graduated from The Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, CA and then worked as Chief Designer for Max Studio for Men, (a division of Max Studio).
Together, they launched martinMartin, a young designer sportswear label, consisting of wovens, stretch wovens, knitwear and leathe with a decidedly relaxed approach conveyed through architecturally inspired minimalistic shapes.
There is simplicity here, the simplicity of designs dictated by function.
Modern women areless interested in applied decoration than in the logical engineering of clothes.
The clothing is quietly stylish, urbane, urban and feminine: a harmony of three different cultures - American, Japanese and Italian.
The collection utilizes the shape and drape of the Orient, the tailoring techniques of Italy, and the casualness of the American lifestyle.
Below are a few of the pieces available at merge right now!

MERGE IS MOVING!!!!!!!
Big news for merge...we're moving to FREMONT on December 3rd!
Merge is moving from our Ballard location to the wonderful neighborhood of Fremont. We've been lucky enough to secure the former "Enexile" space at 611 N. 35th street (right next to El Camino) and we couldn't be more excited! Get ready for a big "re-opening" party in early December so make sure to check back for the date.
I want to thank all of our Ballard friends and customers for their unwavering support over the last year and I hope that many of them will find the time to visit us in Fremont. Ballard will always remain dear to my heart and one of my favorite places in Seattle to eat, drink and shop :-)

Introducing...THRIVE
"After making their mark in the technology industry, founders Rob Meadows and Ali Shahriyari followed their passion for art and culture to create the Los Angeles based fashion brand, Thrive. So far, they've worked with up and coming FIDM star Jacqueline Lavaun as well as several others. Never a company to be pigeon-holed in terms of style, Thrive is a free-thinking brand which fosters ideas and innovations.
By drawing on their diverse experiences and influences as well as investing in the talents of newcomers, Meadows and Shahriyari are establishing a company which has a non-traditional approach to fashion. In Summer 2007 Thrive will announce new creative additions to the design team. The company will continue to produce clothing with a sexy yet intellectual sensibility and act as an incubator for young talent to prosper and 'THRIVE'.
For Fall 2007, Thrive combined modernism and romanticism with the minimalism of functional and non-ornate clothing. Fabrications include silk chiffon, viscose/cotton/metallic satin, wool-cashmere gabardine, French lace, Italian sweater knits, and Japanese woolens."
So, what does this mean?
Well, ladies....this IS fashion. The tailoring, fabric selection and design are simply the epitome of modern sophistication. I selected just a few pieces for the store as an introduction to the collection. Below are a couple of shots from their runway show that I have in store. I'm not sure just looking at a photograph does this line justice though. One must touch and try on the fabrics/garments and look at their construction to fully appreciate the richness of the clothing.
